The BBC has been reporting on the closure of shops during this economic downturn and how certain towns are being hit harder than other due to the mix of shops they have on the high street, proximity to other "better" shopping" areas and the demographic / socio-economic mix. All this made my think of this song. When I first heard it in the movie Cars, I just thought it was sentimental mush, but in our present climate it carries and air of lament and poignancy.
