I had particular problems with spam a month or so back. On WordPress, it's possible to arrange moderation if a comment includes a fixed number of URLs in its body. I enabled this feature. The interesting thing is that after that, the spam reduced - so there must be some feedback in the spamming system: if it doesn't work, eventually they will give up. So don't rule out removing moderation quietly if you see this happening.



Thanks for the encouragement. TypePad allows you to ban comments from designated IP addresses. The problem I've been having is that the spammer who's "targeting" my blog keeps using different IP addresses.
