I have the privilege of walking my oldest son to school every day. It's a short walk but this is a valuable time together.
The other day he said to me, "Dad, when I was brushing my teeth last night God hit me with a message".
"can you remember what that message was" I asked.
"Sort of ....it was something like share the good things you have with those you love".
"That's brilliant - do you think we should pray that God would help us do that"?
"yes Dad, let's pray"
So as we finished our walk to school we prayed that God would help us to share what we have with those we love. I had kind of hoped that God would have said "share what you have even with those you don't love", but my son is only 7 and learning to share what he has with those he loves is a fairly big deal never mind those he struggles with.
I'm praying now that God would "hit" some of our world leaders with the same message he hit my son with!
I take this as a great encouragement. Hearing God isn't as difficult as we make it out to be as adults.
I used to think there was a bit missing in the Bible where it says "The word of the Lord came to" Daniel; Elijah; Jeremiah or whoever. "How did that happen?" I wondered. As your son demonstrates however, as long as you're listening, God can speak anywhere. Even in the bathroom!
