I discovered today that there exists the Evangelical Blog Awards. While, if I had more time it might be interesting to have a look at some of these, I'm not sure that I like the idea of Blog Awards. I'm even less sure I like the idea of Evangelical Blog Awards. I don't mean to offend anyone by saying this, but I'm like "what's the point"?
While it can be good and useful to visit other Christians blogs for sharing ideas and having conversations I think it's healthy to have some non-Christian blog friends. I read Loic Le Meur, a French entrepreneur. I wouldn't go so far as to say he's a "blog friend" as I've not posted much on his site, and he probably has no idea who I am - but I think for me it's a step in the right direction. I have no idea if he is a Christian - well I've a fair idea that he's not. I also have no intention of trying to convert him.
Si and I have had a brief email conversation recently about how blogs should be places of gift giving and receiving. I think an important aspect of this is that we are willing to give to and receive from people who are not like us. I don't want my blog, or my blog reading to be stuck in some Evangelical ghetto, nice as the people there might be.
